The Mission Bay City and County fire departments cover over 25 square miles by land and an additional 4 miles by water. A total of 11 fire stations serve a population of 165,000 residents and provide automatic aid to several neighboring departments. The area served includes various State Routes/Interstates, two college campuses and a world renowned laboratory. Mission Bay along with California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection respond to brush and medical emergency calls in the hills and upper mountain ranges.
